Peace via Picnic

Thank you to everyone who attended the Love Picnic today. It was a RESOUNDING SUCCESS--and we have all of you to thank!

The Westboro Baptist Church came to the BU Hillel House to sling their usual hate speech. Hundreds of BU students came to respond, as hundreds of people always respond when WBC is in town.

But then we did something that the other counter-protesters don't usually do. We stopped paying attention to the WBC at all, and we started loving. They don't deserve any more recognition than they've already gotten--the best thing that we could do was to start our own revolution of love. We loved so loud it didn't matter that the Westboro Baptist Church was holding a couple of signs. We loved so far that we moved to Marsh Plaza, removing WBC from the picture and focusing on the supportive community that BU is.
